Clogged Drain in Santa Monica
During a June 10th service call in Santa Monica, our team inspected a clogged drain and discovered underlying water quality issues affecting the plumbing system. Visual assessment revealed significant mineral deposits and corrosion across multiple components, including the flexible braided supply lines, compression shut-off valves, and chrome fittings throughout the bathroom. Heavy sediment accumulation was evident in the toilet bowls, and white mineral buildup coated the pipe connections, indicating hard water conditions and sediment in the water supply.
The drain line inspection required disconnection and disassembly of components to access the clog and evaluate the extent of buildup. Beyond the primary drain obstruction, the team identified deteriorated drywall surrounding plumbing penetrations and water staining on walls near connection points—signs of prolonged moisture exposure that required attention. The corroded galvanized steel piping and mineral-laden fixtures showed the cumulative effects of untreated hard water over time.
Work focused on clearing the clogged drain and documenting the system’s condition for the homeowner. While the immediate blockage was resolved, the mineral deposits and corrosion patterns suggest ongoing water quality challenges. Our team recommended that the customer consider professional drain cleaning as part of regular maintenance, along with evaluation of water treatment options to slow future mineral buildup and extend fixture life.
The pedestal sink, dual-handle chrome faucet, and toilet fixtures remain functional following service completion. However, the visible deterioration of surrounding walls and plumbing infrastructure warrants follow-up assessment to prevent further water damage.
