Clogged Drain in Los Angeles
On June 15, 2026, our team addressed a clogged drain affecting the bathtub in a Los Angeles home. Upon inspection, we found the drain system compromised by substantial black sediment and biofilm buildup within the drain line and vent assembly.
The bathtub featured two drain openings—the main drain and overflow—both connected to PVC drain assembly components. The vent system, which includes a ceiling-mounted vent pipe with a corroded metal collar and white PVC coupling, showed significant rust and mineral deposits. Metal escutcheon plates around the fixtures displayed corrosion and discoloration consistent with age and moisture exposure. Black rubber supply lines and shut-off valves were also present throughout the assembly.
We extracted the accumulated debris from the drain and vent system, removing the black sediment material visible on our work cloth. This substantial buildup was restricting water flow and needed complete removal to restore proper drainage. The system showed clear signs of mineral accumulation and lack of recent maintenance, which contributed to the clog formation.
Following our drain cleaning service, the bathtub drain functioned properly. We recommend monitoring the system and scheduling periodic maintenance to prevent future buildup. The corroded vent collar and worn escutcheon plates should be evaluated for potential replacement during your next service visit to ensure long-term system reliability.
