No Hot Water in Los Angeles

On June 16, 2026, our team responded to a no hot water complaint in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, a full system inspection revealed the root cause: the HVAC control system governing the water heating setup required a complete diagnostic and recalibration.

The existing installation included an Amtrol expansion tank, analog temperature control thermostat with dual concentric dials, and a cabinet-mounted control board assembly. The 24V control wiring—color-coded in red, blue, yellow, green, and orange—showed signs of age and inconsistent signal relay. Multiple relay switches and transformers were present but not functioning in proper sequence, preventing the heating cycle from activating correctly.

Our technician systematically tested each component: the temperature/temperatura thermostat dial settings, terminal block connections (MV, MV/PV, PV, GND, 24V), and the control board green circuit boards. The wiring exhibited organized spiral wrap protection on the pink tubing, but several connections at the relay switches had corroded, interrupting the signal path to the heating element.

We cleaned all terminal connections, verified proper voltage delivery across the 24V control circuit, and recalibrated the thermostat to restore correct temperature sensing. The expansion tank pressure was checked and confirmed operational. All control board connections were secured and labeled for future diagnostics. Upon completion, the heating cycle engaged properly, and hot water restored to full temperature throughout the home. The system is now operating normally with no further issues reported.
