Clogged Drain in Marina del Rey

Our technician arrived at a Marina del Rey residence to address a clogged drain affecting the bathroom sink. The undermount ceramic basin with single-lever brushed nickel faucet was isolated, and the under-sink area was inspected for the source of the blockage.

The P-trap assembly and drain line were exposed and examined. Corroded brass compression fittings and mineral deposits were noted, indicating age and potential water quality concerns. The flexible corrugated drain line showed typical wear consistent with the plumbing’s condition. A black drain bucket was positioned under the trap connections to contain any water released during the service.

The technician used standard tools—adjustable wrench and hacksaw—to access and clear the clogged section. The trap assembly was disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled with the slip-nut connections secured. The drain line was verified for proper routing and function. Supply line shutoff valves in the cabinet were checked and confirmed operational.

Once the clog was cleared and the system tested, all connections were tightened and the cabinet returned to normal operation. The corroded brass fittings were noted for the customer’s awareness; while functional, they may warrant replacement during future maintenance to prevent potential leaks.
